AC Thruster ø250mm 400V/230V – 240kg
£3,000.00
An AC thruster built for vessels that manoeuvre often and for longer than a DC unit can sustain. It runs from the boat’s existing 230V or 400V supply and holds thrust for the whole of a berthing rather than in short bursts.
Supplied as a matched package and commissioned as one system, with the tunnel sizing and power budget confirmed before anything is ordered.
The SAC range is Sleipner’s AC thruster line for vessels where a DC installation would run out of duty cycle. Running on the boat’s existing 230V or 400V supply, it delivers continuous thrust for as long as the manoeuvre takes rather than the short bursts a DC unit is limited to.
Every unit is supplied as a matched package — motor, drive, gearleg and control electronics specified together — so the installation is commissioned as one system rather than assembled from parts. We size the tunnel, confirm the power budget and carry out the fit at Hamble Point or at your berth.

S-link™ is a CAN-based control system with full intelligent communication between all units in the system, much like a computer network.
A PROportional speed controlled thruster system allows for more precise handling of the boat in all conditions, applying only the necessary power needed to complete your manoeuvre confidently. By limiting the power under normal weather conditions, noise levels are significantly reduced.
The system also includes a practical HOLD-function in a twin thruster system. With a single press of a button, the bow and stern thruster will keep you alongside the docks – making single handed docking very easy indeed! Proportional thrusters are also the best choice for joystick interaction.
The new 5 blade special skew propellers are the result of over 2 years of development work and thousands of tests. They have been designed to reduce the noise level, while maintaining the exceptional efficiency of the old 4 blade Side-Power propellers. This goal was achieved, and we even chose to make them a little bit more aggressive on some models, increasing the thrust on some thrusters about 5%. Please see individual information on each new thruster for more details.
Two counter-rotating propellers can give the most thrust at a good performance ratio in a minimal tunnel diameter. This system is used in our larger thrusters for maximum power. The TC models are the favourite thrusters among leading boatbuilders for their high-end yachts.
Sealed gearleg with long-life “mechanical” seal where highly polished ceramic and carbon surfaces form the only moving sealing surfaces, ensuring protection against damaging water intrusion into the gear leg. Pre-filled with special gear oil for lifetime lubrication.
If your question is not answered here, talk to us directly. We will want to know the vessel, how you use it and what you are trying to solve before we recommend anything.
Sizing depends on hull form, windage and tunnel diameter rather than length alone. Send us the vessel details and we will confirm whether this unit is the right match or point you to another model in the range.
Both. The unit is specified for 230V or 400V supply, and we confirm which applies to your installation before the order is placed.
Often, yes. It depends on the tunnel diameter and the space around it. We survey the installation first and will tell you if the tunnel needs work.
Our own engineers, either at Hamble Point Marina or at your berth. The unit is commissioned and tested before we hand it over.
